Glenridding Sailing Centre → GSC RACE TRAINING COURSE

We will be hosting a four day modular Race Course (held over two weekends) in order to develop your skills in preparation for open club meetings or higher levels of competition.

Our course will be led by Joe Pester (Laser 3000 National Champion 2010/2011)

The course will be predominately on the water and each day will consist of the following practical and theory sessions. Participants are welcome to join in for the full four days or to sign up for the days that interest them.

Day One - Saturday 17th March
• Boat preparation, set up and rig settings
• Boat handling and speed
• Meteorology*

Day Two - Sunday 18th March
• Improving manoeuvres (tacking, gybing, bearing away and rounding up)
• Team work
• Physical and mental preparation*

Day Three - Saturday 24th March
• Starts
• Tactics
• Racing rules and tactics therein*

Day Four - Sunday 25th March
• Spinnaker handling (hoist, gybes + drops)
• Mark rounding
• Strategy*

* theory sessions

We would encourage you to bring your own boat or alternatively you are welcome to use one of ours (limited and on a first come and first served basis).
