Glenridding Sailing Centre → RYA DAY SKIPPER THEORY
The RYA Day Skipper theory course is a prelude to the practical Day Skipper Course and provides the aspiring skipper with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day.
No previous experience is expected but it would be good if you have had some previous experience on either a power boat or yacht.
In the Day Skipper theory course we will show you the basics of coastal and inshore navigation and pilotage.
This will include: chart work, position fixing, plotting a course to steer, weather forecasting, knowledge of tides and the International Regulations for Prevention of Collision at Sea.
As well as navigation the RYA Day Skipper theory course will give students an understanding of different yacht types and the equipment they carry as well as safety procedures such as distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, life jackets and life rafts.
The cost for the course is £355.00 per person, which will include a study pack, which is supplied by the RYA and includes the assessment papers and completion certificate.
However we will need a minimum of 4 students to run the course.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions or would like to book on to the course.
